Atletico Madrid faltered, Chelsea surrendered its group, and Paris Saint-Germain topped its quartet for the first time in four attempts despite a 3-1 defeat at Bayern Munich.

0: Benfica registered zero points in the group stage, the worst output for a Portuguese club in the tournament’s history.

2: PSG suffered its second consecutive loss in all competitions after a 2-1 weekend defeat to Strasbourg. The club was unbeaten in its previous 25 matches.

3: Bayern Munich‘s Corentin Tolisso became the third Frenchman to score two or more goals against a French opponent, joining Thierry Henry and Karim Benzema.

7: The last time Atletico Madrid failed to reach the last 16 was in 2009-10, a stretch of seven consecutive seasons in the knockout stage that ended Tuesday. Atleti went on to win the Europa League that year.
