Enrique blames costly errors after City tops Barcelona

In spite of Barcelona’s encouraging performance to start the match, frustration got the better of Enrique after crucial mistakes cost his side a win during Tuesday’s Champions League encounter with Manchester City.

Barca was on the verge of taking a 1-0 lead into the break after Lionel Messi’s opener, until a costly blunder from Sergi Roberto paved the way for Ilkay Gundogan’s equaliser.

It was all City after the interval as the hosts’ relentless pressure was rewarded when Kevin De Bruyne and Gundogan added another two goals to clinch the win over a Barcelona team who had embarrassed Pep Guardiola’s men a fortnight ago.

“We played 40 spectacular minutes, but we committed a key mistake and that hurt us because we are not machines,” Enrique told reporters after the match, according to Tom Robinson of Sky Sports.
