Allegri ‘optimistic’ Dybala will play vs. Barcelona after ankle injury

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri tried to calm supporters’ fears in the aftermath of Saturday’s 2-0 win over Pescara, as the manager said there’s reason to be optimistic that the ankle issue suffered by Paulo Dybala isn’t serious.

The Argentine star, who was the catalyst behind the Bianconeri’s 3-0 Champions League victory over Barcelona earlier this week, limped off the pitch early in the second half at the Adriatico after a late challenge from Sulley Muntari.

With the return leg of the heavyweight clash against Barcelona slated for Wednesday, the sight of Dybala crumbling to the field immediately had Juventus supporters fearing for the worst.

Allegri, though, did his best to allay those concerns after the contest.

“Dybala took a knock, but there’s reason to remain optimistic,” Allegri told Premium Sport, per Football Italia, of his potential involvement at the Camp Nou.

Dybala, who scored twice in the aforementioned win over the Blaugrana earlier this week, was seen leaving the stadium on Saturday with a bandage around his right ankle, though he did seem to be moving without too much trouble.
