If recent history is any indication, Barcelona are poised to claim a fourth La Liga crown in five years after luring perennial league champ Arturo Vidal to the Camp Nou.
The mohawked Chilean has won seven league titles on the spin with Juventus and more recently Bayern Munich, and the safe money will be on Vidal to make that eight with Friday’s move from the Bavarian behemoth to the Catalan capital.
“FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Arturo Vidal,” a statement on Barcelona’s website reads. “The agreement is for the next three seasons and is pending the medical examination that the player will undertake over the course of the next few days.”
A blockbuster move that seemingly surfaced out of nothing, Vidal, 31, was heavily linked with a summer switch to Inter until the Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano and Ed Aarons revealed Barcelona’s £27-million interest in the player.
