La Liga captains set to discuss concerns over U.S. matches

La Liga captains will get their chance to discuss concerns over a new agreement in which domestic matches will be staged in the United States.

President of La Liga, Javier Tebas, announced last week that Spain’s top division had reached a “ground-breaking” agreement with media company Relevant – the organization that established the multi-continental International Champions Cup tournament – that includes one domestic match hosted in the U.S. as part of a 15-year deal.

The Spanish players’ union, AFE, expressed its disapproval following the announcement, citing that players were not consulted during the negotiation process.

The 20 league captains will have an opportunity to voice their opinions Wednesday in Madrid during a meeting at the organization’s headquarters, the AFE announced.
