Report: Barcelona pushing hard to sign Pjanic

Barcelona have stepped up their pursuit of Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

Negotiations between the two clubs have intensified, though the completion of the transfer could be dependent on Juventus agreeing to a swap deal, according to ESPN FC’s Sam Marsden and Moises Llorens.

Both Juventus and Barcelona stated they will conduct business differently during the transfer window this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, which means the sides are more willing to discuss swap deals.

Pjanic is reportedly open to joining Barca, though the reigning La Liga champions have yet to formally submit an offer to secure his services.

Juventus director Fabio Paratici confirmed negotiations with the Catalan club and hinted last week that a trade involving Pjanic and Barcelona midfielder Arthur could be in the works.

However, Arthur said at the end of April that the only scenario that interests him is staying at Barcelona.

Arthur’s desire to stay has resulted in Barcelona offering Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal, or Carles Alena to the Serie A club, Marsden and Llorens report.
