Report: Arthur agrees to join Juventus in swap with Pjanic

Barcelona midfielder Arthur has finally agreed to a transfer to Juventus in a move that will send Miralem Pjanic to the Spanish side, reports Fabrizio Romano of the Guardian.

The Italian club will also add in €10 million to complete the deal, with only the final details yet to be resolved, according to Romano.

The two teams have been discussing the transfer throughout the summer, with Arthur’s reluctance to leave the Camp Nou the only stumbling block. Pjanic, meanwhile, has long been keen on the move, while the clubs were quickly able to agree on the valuations of both players.

Pjanic is valued at €60 million, with Arthur at €70 million, Romano notes.

Arthur, 23, will reportedly earn significantly higher wages with the Serie A side. Manager Maurizio Sarri is reportedly an admirer of the midfielder, who joined Barcelona from Gremio in 2018.

The deal is expected to be logged as two separate transfers by the clubs, which will allow each of them to report the incoming fees on this year’s financial records. That’s particularly crucial for Barcelona, who reportedly need a cash injection of roughly €70 million before June 30 to avoid serious financial repercussions.
