Barcelona have moved closer to securing a move for Lyon captain Memphis Depay.
The Dutch international has agreed to terms on a contract to join Barcelona, but the two clubs have yet to settle on a transfer fee, according to the Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano.
New Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman is reportedly keen on a move for Depay after working with the former Manchester United player during his time as Netherlands coach.
Barcelona stepped up their pursuit of the 26-year-old forward – whose contract at Lyon expires next summer – in recent days, Romano adds.
A successful bid could cost the Catalan side €30 million, reports Ben Hayward of the Evening Standard.
Depay’s arrival at the Camp Nou would likely fill the void left by Luis Suarez’s possible departure, as he’s been linked with a transfer to Juventus.
However, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is eager to see Depay stay for the upcoming season.
“Memphis could have left in August, but now he should stay with us in 2020-21,” he said, according to Hayward.
