Report: Wolves set to sign Barcelona’s Semedo for around €40M

Wolverhampton Wanderers have lined up Nelson Semedo as Matt Doherty‘s replacement at Molineux.

The club expects the Barcelona right-back to arrive in England in the coming days and finalize a transfer to Nuno Espirito Santo’s ambitious Wolves side, sources told ESPN’s Sam Marsden and Moises Llorens.

Semedo, 26, will reportedly cost around €40 million.

New Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman apparently prefers Sergi Roberto to Semedo, and the club is seeking another right-back in the summer transfer window. Norwich City’s Max Aarons tops a list of targets also featuring Ajax teenager Sergino Dest, making Semedo a bonus.

At Wolves, Semedo would fill the void left by Doherty’s recent departure to Tottenham Hotspur. The West Midlands club selected Adama Traore at right wing-back for the season-opening win at Sheffield United, while youngsters Ki-Jana Hoever, Oskar Buur, and Luke Matheson all fulfill duties at either right-back or right wing-back.
