Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin has been recalled to the Spain squad for the first time since 2016, replacing the injured Jesus Navas.
The Spanish national team announced the news after Sevilla captain Navas suffered a groin injury during Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Osasuna.
Sevilla have yet to comment on the severity of Navas’ ailment.
Bellerin, 25, was given his full Spain debut in a May 2016 friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina after he was named to Vincente del Bosque’s taxi squad for the 2016 European Championships.
The Barcelona-born full-back made two more appearances for La Roja before his career was sidetracked by a series of serious injuries that include an anterior cruciate ligament tear during the 2018-19 season.
Bellerin has enjoyed a resurgence under Gunners boss Mikel Arteta, picking up his third winners’ medal as Arsenal captured a record 14th FA Cup in August.
Spain travel to Amsterdam to face the Netherlands in a friendly on Nov. 11 before Luis Enrique’s side prepare for a pair of Nations League clashes against Switzerland and Germany.
