Andres Iniesta is the J1 League’s newest addition after signing with Vissel Kobe on Thursday in a move the Barcelona legend hopes will further the development of Japanese football.
There were plenty of teams interested in signing Iniesta following confirmation that he would leave Barcelona after 22 years with the Catalan side, but the 34-year-old ultimately chose to join Vissel Kobe.
“I had a lot of offers, other clubs showed an interest in me,” Iniesta said, according to BBC Sport, during a press conference in Tokyo.
“I chose Vissel Kobe because it was an interesting project.”
