Report: Suarez’s move to Atletico back on after initial breakdown

Luis Suarez is finally on his way to Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona agreed to let the 33-year-old join La Liga rivals Atletico after a positive meeting between the two sides, according to The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano.

Earlier Tuesday, Barcelona reportedly reneged on a verbal agreement to terminate Suarez’s contract. The Uruguayan was believed to be furious at the club and prepared to hold a press conference to state his case.

Barcelona reportedly promised Suarez he could leave for free, provided he didn’t move to Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City, or Paris Saint-Germain. He’ll now replace Alvaro Morata, who returned to Juventus on an initial loan deal worth a potential €55 million.

Suarez was linked with Juventus and even traveled to Italy to obtain citizenship. Authorities are reportedly investigating whether Suarez cheated on his language test.
